Rosemarie Wild from Switzerland, kennel Toopines, judging and breeding labradors since many many years, answers our questions.
1. Namn, kennelnamn, när och varför valde du att föda upp labradorer?
I can’t remember a time of my life not having had one or several dogs around me. My grandfather, father and uncle were hunting people – so we had German Shorthair Pointers, English Setters, Terriers, Luzerner Niederlaufhunde, Grosser Schweizer Laufhund.
My first own dog was a German Shorthair Pointer bitch for 17 years, a wonderful family companion and hunting dog.
Since 1976, when my first Labrador turned up, I am devoted to this breed. The “Toopines” Labradors have given me since so much joy and pleasures, and exist since 30 years. I would not miss one minute of it and I am grateful to them for all they have given to me and my family. At present, I have the 8th generation in a straight bitch line since my two foundation bitches out of Sandylands- and Suddie-lines. I gradually took in my lines blood from Lasgarn, Kupros, Follytower, Beltarn, Poolstead, Dolphingham and Carpenny, just to name a few.
I choose this breed due to its fantastic temperament, kindness, devotion for its family, its alertness and will to please, etc. I love the looks of a well balanced Labrador.
2. Vad anser du vara de viktigaste egenskaperna hos labradoren?
In a Labrador I wont to see class (classic type), balance, power over all, as the standard says.
Head in excellent proportion, kindest of expressions, good length of neck and well laid back shoulder, a long enough upper arm to enable to pick up with out reducing speed and transform this into power. Deep, well ribbed chest and the top line should be level and strong, loins powerful, well set and carried otter tail, strong, well angulated quarters, good feet and this excellent double coat.
